Some Baked goodness

In the search for a whiter buttercream - the wonderful ladies on Baked from Scratch flickr group - suggested Swiss Meringue Buttercream - I wanted to make a nice pink icing. So here's the result. Now I'm still deciding if I like it better than standard buttercream - but Shane loves it - it's smooth and silky and creamy - but a bit buttery for my taste I think. It was relatively easy to make though.

The swirls aren't the best as I had helpers in the form of my 4yo DS and 2 yo DD lol!!

So it's chocolate cupcake with pink/white Swiss meringue buttercream.

These ones are orange cupcake with orange buttercream

Shane says ................

I can't keep this :( Don't you think it would be perfect for Miss K? More of these divine creations coming, hoping to have them ready to stock sometime next week.

Outer of hand dyed bamboo velour - in hot pink, yellow and oranges. Inner of lush peach sherpa. Matching wipes, because I couldn't bare to throw out any of the scraps - tiny scraps are going to Donna from Bits for Bots for her little steiner inspired dolls.

And the back, even more beautiful I think :)

A two pack for a friend - 'limited edition' Lime Windpro with cartoony dinosaurs and a quick dry HoneyBoy in the lush Red Velvet Windpro.

Heavenly pack for a little boy soon to arrive :)

Rainbow baby legs - embroidered with ladybugs and bees

and a boys raphael pack in knits for a baby shower gift

Some Eye Candy, on this freezing cold night here in Brisbane. I'm about to go and have some warm chocolate self-saucing pudding, would have preferred butterscotch, but I'd run out of Golden Syrup :( and a nice warm cup of tea.

Two teeny weeny small HoneyBoy! nappies - this is one of the custom slot winners for June.

Katherine's 2nd Birthday

And all the goodies that go with a birthday party. We have some of her little friends around, and everyone had a great morning. Lots of running, jumping and playing and of course eating lots of goodies. She received some absolutely beautiful handmade goodies, but her favourite present of the day is the Sigg water bottle that she received from the lovely Mel. Lola picked it out for her and it's just perfect, she hasn't even put it down. I'll be back later in the week, to post pictures of the gorgeous handmade goodies and pressie that she received.

Droolworthy cupcakes - vanilla with a buttercream frosting and silver cachous

Mm melting moments.

And no you can never have enough cupcakes - mini ones here. All failsafe goodies on offer today, so everyone can have a taste.

My new kitchen - Katherine is already a whizz .

Lemonade scones, yummo!!

The birthday girl herself.

My best cupcakes yet - I love how they turned out. I had to make do with a very small petal nozzle on my piping bag - I will have to get a larger one, and it's really hard to make pink buttercream with real butter - everything has a tinge of peach to it.

To die for caramel coconut slice.

Cupcake face

The littliest Cherub turns 2.

Well my precious baby girl turns 2 today.

This is her 2 years ago, just arrived after a very speedy labour

This is her in her gorgeous Pixie Pants Set - you may have seen this photo about the boards and in the ANN calender

And this is the birthday girl today at her party.

yes complete with cupcakes. But as everyone knows presents are a must on your birthday. So to celebrate, I'm giving away a nappy and something special to one reader of my blog. All you have to do is leave a comment for Katherine and at the end of today, I'll randomly computer draw a winner. All I ask is that you are happy to pay $5 towards the postage costs. And of course I'll send a nappy suitable for your child size wise.

If you'd like to see more birthday/foodie photos you can check out my craft blog later today :)

I am very Thankful

Of the very healthy and happy children that I have.

I've just recently had the sad task of helping an online friend provide some garments for a friend of hers that lost a baby.

The Smocking Guild of Queensland of which I am a life member provides smocked baby gowns under our 'Sew Precious' banner to babies which become angels, either before or just after birth. Our gowns are provided to all the major hospitals in Brisbane and surrounds, and we have a wonderful team of ladies, that make and smock all the tiny gowns. We unfortunately can not always keep up with the demand for these wee gowns, and as a Guild fundraise throughout the year, so that we may provide the materials needed to our members to keep up the supply of these gowns.

So I've decided to show here, just how tiny these gowns are and hope that I can promote the Guild and all the good work it does for these parents and babies as such a sad time. If you'd like to help in any way with a donation, or you would like to help in some other way, you may contact the Guild via phone by calling 0409 610 105. Or alternatively, just send me an email and I'll forward them onto the Guild.

This is the small gown we make for babies around the 500g weight. It's next to a large itti bitti nappy. The tiny nappy is what would fit a 500g baby, it was lovingly made by the wonderful Donna from Bits for Bots, who answered my call very late one night to help me out. The larger gown that we make is made to fit babies that are nearer to full term.
