Want to join us for Afternoon Tea?

Cause the Cinna Buns were DELICIOUS!!!!!!

Recipe from King Arthur Flour Via Sara from Willow and Moo - no surprise there, we are always sending each other links to stuff lol!!

I made it in the bread maker, only changing the milk - I used 1/3 cup powdered milk and warm water in place of their lukewarm milk, but it works just the same.

It says it makes 12 but they would have been massive. So the ones pictured are only about 1/3 of what I actually made and they are very very very good lol!

So much for the steady weight loss in preparation for the wedding, must walk more, must walk more.

And then for school lunches Ham and Cheese Scrolls cause apparently K is sick of the same food everyday, though she asks for the same food EVERYDAY, I'm sure other mums can related. They must have been good, because William ate his lunch and then ate TWO of the scrolls lol!!

I used my base Betty Crocker Bread mix, you'll find it a few posts back I think and just sliced champagne ham and tasty cheese sprinkled over, there is enough for lunches for 2 wee cherubs and then some. I guess I'll freeze them, so they last well for the week.

I also made the birthday boy Boiled Fruit Cake and still have to make Beef Pie for dinner, with the leftover from last night Birthday Roast and help Sarah make salted Caramel for cupcakes she's making for a friend's birthday. And I suppose somewhere in there more caramel slice cause W is addicted.

It's nice to have the baking mojo bake! Wait till you see what I'm up to for Easter!!!

The week that was ...

Okay, okay I'm behind with doing this, but here is a look back at gorgeous nappies that went to new homes last week.

Sunday, March 18

Take one .....

Size 0 cut of divine Fairy Floss Minky and slice and dice, add and subtract.

Add some pink slush minky, carefully, oh so carefully cut and manoeuvre the fairy floss into place, watching the grain and placement.   Guide the machine around the curves and add the satin stitch.

Gather up some gorgeous fairy fabric, add a scallop in purple.

Create some double layered scalloped ruffles, stitch into place.

Add some hearts and a wee fairy.

Finish off with some hand embroidery in delicate and matching shades of pink, lavenders and purples, with just a touch of greenery.

Put a lush lavender inner layer in and voila!

A gorgeous Fairy Floss nappy - it was created to raise funds for my friend Kristie to head off to the Digital Parenting Conference to speak.  You can find her blog here

Weekend Baking

There never seems enough hours in the day, but the kids are always eating so here's today's baking.

Choc Chip Buns, you can turn them into hot cross if you like it's a nice sweet dough. It's not a huge batch, so you might like to double it. I used the breadmaker.

It's from Betty Crocker bread machine book.

So with my breadmachine, I add in the following order:-

1 3/4 teaspoons of yeast
2 cups bread flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
3 tablespoons (american) of butter. Or you can use margarine or oil.
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup milk

I found that a bit wet, so either bring down the liquid or add a bit more flour when you knead it.

I don't ad the choc chips in until kneading, if you put them in the breadmaker, they just melt. I just use the pizza dough cycle as it kneads it for me and I can move on.

That's all that was left by the time I got to take a photo, Shane's latte in the background lol!!

Then I made Turkish Bread from here. It makes alot but it's tasty. I didn't have the water squirter, so mine has a soft crust, but that's okay. And I also used rye flour at the first starter. I didn't get to make it yesterday, so i just popped it in the fridge overnight. It smelt like beer to me and it tastes good, just a bit sour!

Then Chocolate Cornflake slice. Oven at 180 deg Celcius.

Mix in a bowl.

1 cup SR Flour
1 cup coconut
1 cup of cornflakes
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon of cocoa.

Mix in 155g of melted butter.

Press firmly into a slice tray and bake about 20 - 25 minutes until firm. Ice whilst hot with chocolate icing, or wait till cool and use glace icing. This way the icing sets.

Caramel Slice

Mix in a bowl

1/2 cup plain flour
1/2 cup sr flour
1/2 cup coconut
1/2 cup caster sugar.

Mix in 100g melted butter.

Press into slice tray and bake for 15 minutes

Mix together

60g melted butter
1 tin of condensed milk
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons of golden syrup.

Mix together and pour over the base, bake until lightly golden about 20 minutes.

You can top with chocolate all over, drizzled, or a coconut top which is yum.
If you want coconut Mix together 2 eggs with 1/3 cup caster sugar whisk together and then add 2 cups of coconut. You put this over the caramel base and bake together for about 25 minutes. If you want the chocolate top obviously wait until the slice cools and then use whatever chocolate you like, with a wee bit of copha added to make it easier to spread.
