Party!!!!

Well little Miss Cherub turned 6, and we've had a very very busy week, so it was a quiet actual birthday with just homemade pizza and chocolate cake.

Then a party yesterday with little friend from school.

We played pass the parcel, treasure hunt and musical statues.  Decorated our own cupcakes and played with moon dough (thanks to Jen for the suggestion)  The moon dough was adored by all, but I now have flour all over my deck and through the house, but better than sand right?

And of course what's a party without food.

Homemade sausage rolls - the recipe from Gary Meighan from master chef.

Triple layer chocolate cake - aka Sweet and Salty from baked, though I subbed in cream for the sour cream as I didn't have any.  With apricot buttercream and sugared pearls.

Rose cookies - royal iced piped roses and my favourite sugar cookie base

Fondant cookies - in pastel pink and lavender

Like I said busy week but the kids had a blast and that is all that matters

Collaborate for a Cause

Oops long time no post eek!

But anyways I've done a couple to items for Collaborate for a Cause.

First up a gorgeous little girls dress and nappy set.

The dress is from Margo from The Climbing Tree.  It's a size 2 princess line, fully lined bodice, closes with 2 buttons on the back, and is a delightful little ballerina border print.  Just perfect for a birthday party or special event.

It's teamed with a Size 2 Cherub's Kiss nappy, 5 full ruffles on the back, and a ruched front with bow appliqué, some bias trim and rick rack, on raspberry minky with a  hot pink micro fleece inner

Our charity of choice is Red Kite - supporting children and their families through their cancer journey.

My second set is one for the boys.

I've teamed up with Leanne from Sew Karazmatic to make a scrumptious boys set.

I've made a size 6 - 12mths tshirt in royal blue stella with emerald neck binding.  I've used the fabric from the pants Leanne has made to appliqué a wee elephant on the front - Shane calls him Hannibal.  It's matched with a size 2 Splitsie, with an olive minky back, with a blue gelato elephant, the two prints are used on the front with olive, jade and royal  minky and an appliquéd leaf inspired by the fabric.

Leanne will be teaming it with a pair of little boys pants again in a 6 - 12mth sizing.
Our charity of choice is L'il Aussie Prems -  supporting families of premmie babies, sick newborns, special needs kids, toddlers & beyond.

Please pop on over and see all the wonderful creations that are available, we are supporting lots of different charities, some big and some small but all worthy of your dollars.

Some gardening

Our garden has been very much neglected in recents months, very sad really, but it's time to get things sorted, so we've started clearing the front yard, it still has a massive pile of dirt, we are going to work every day this week to try and get things tidy for the smallest cherubs birthday party on the weekend.

The front yard is nice and flat now, well it will be when the huge pile of dirt is moved, and it gets full sun all day, so perfect for flowers and veges, so we've planted some flowers today and interspersed are veges, the potatoes are already in full swing and growing well, but there are now beans, broccoli, beetroot as well, I need some tomato plants and peas to go in I think.

In the back yard we have 2 beds under revamp and one planted out with garlic, shallots and strawberries, some very naughty pussycats - Bella and Tiger are about the have their tails chopped off (well not really, but they keep digging up my strawberries grrr)  So next weekend, we'll head to Bunnings to get some netting to keep them off it.

The front yard the dirt pile is getting smaller, we have some new flowers and yes pretty twinkling fairy lights!

Potatoes, I think they are Nicola

Shallots and garlic with a good bug mix of flowers from Green Harvest

And Strawberries, there should be 8 but some have been eaten by the pussycats, sigh!

Sewing, sewing

The gorgeous Margo from The Climbing Tree has helped me heaps in the past few weeks, not least of all by making some clothes for the littlest cherub.  I always forget to grab a photo, so here's one of them - pardon the hair, it's the end of a busy running about and playing day.

I dyed the fabric for the overdress with hood, Margo spied it whilst wandering through my massive stash lol!!  and purloined it to make some goodies.  I believe it's an Amelia tunic, but don't' quote me - topped with a long sleeved tshirt in dots and some funky striped and sparkly leggings.

And yes the little cherub reckons they go fabulously together and who am I to argue.

And then the wee cherub has two birthday parties this weekend and I really wanted to make them something, and Art Folder is what I wanted, I found a pattern from Gingercake

Yes yes I know I could have made up my own, but my brain is still fried from wedding stuff I think and I couldn't' think straight, so I got this pattern and it goes together very well.  I just did a simple embellishment on the front with the name of the party girl.

When I make it again, I'm going to add about 2 inches to the width of the piece, just so that i have enough room for longer pencils/markers and a spiral bound art book, as opposed to the flat pads, as I've found a good source for the spiral bound ones .  It was easy to put together and worked well.  There are no measurements for the pockets, rather you have to fold to make the size, but I've just measured them and added them to the pattern for next time, just so it's quicker for me.
