I got a pretty

For those of you that know us reasonably well, you'll know that we play a game called Dragonvale.  It
all started when I found an ipad app - free one of course and started playing and well I needed gems and so I 'made' Shane join up to give me gems.  Well months down the track and I don't have time at the moment to play but Shane is well and truly hooked, they run an online community and he's met lots of new friends.

One of the lovely ladies that he's met through Dragonvale community make the most divine bracelets and my darling procured one for me.  It's made of brass I believe and it's just too beautiful for words, it's been twisted and bent into the most amazing chain.

So thank you to my hubby and his friend for a little pick me up.

Made by Margo

This outfit is all from Margo, it was a wee bit big last year, but in putting away the warm clothing (what WAS I thinking, it's been freezing lol) and putting in the summer wear, the little miss found this and said I'm wearing this.  Mummy hasn't ironed it cause well it's Sunday morning and I'm running on less than all cylinders at the moment.  but it was a wee bit cool, with just straps, so the matching tshirt went underneath,  The undies are also from Margo and so is the hat.  The only thing not handmade is the singlet and hippo shoes as we call them.

I believe the outfit is a modkid set, the hat a modified Nicole M pattern.

She's a wee bit hot and sweaty cause we'd just walked down to the markets and back and whilst it was cool at 7 this morning, not so much in the 10am sunshine!

End of an Era

Sadly Australian Smocking and Embroidery Magazine is no more, the last issue - Issue 100 has been printed and winging it's way across the world.    25 years on from it's inception, things change and sadly it's no more, though Country Bumpkin promise smocking still.  The sister magazine Inspirations is still being printed.

My last copy arrived in the mail yesterday.

It wasn't quite what I expected, but it was sad and nice at the same time looking back through the years and remembering the hundreds of garments I've smocked, taught or made for gifts.  I don't smock nearly as much as I would like any longer things change, but I am trying to make more of an effort to smock more, Katherine has barely had any smocked garments from all that I have made, though there are couple hanging in her closet that were Sarah's (she's 19), went to visit my niece Emily (about to turn 13) and have come back to Katherine, in fact there is one there right now that will probably fit and it had many hours of work, must remember to try it on her tomorrow.

Anyways back to the item at hand.   The girls at CB ummed and ahhed over what should go in the magazine and in the end decided that the staff would pick their favourites and go from there.  Sometimes it was the design, sometimes the child, but all as always gorgeous photos from Andrew the photographer.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that several of my garments made it into this issue, never more stoked that finding that my very first garment from Issue 53 Child of Nature featured on page 8.
I made this garment with much encouragement from Robyn Beaver, who was a past editor, the fabric was gorgeous, the design just worked and the little girl wearing it was just a doll.

The pattern that I drafted from scratch during a TAFE course on pattern drafting, evolved into a couple more dresses, as the design was so popular for long hot Australian summers.

I also discovered Ava from Issue 91 - designed for Katherine :) and on page 66

and

Mexican Summer from Issue 65, I remember how long it took to stitch all that honeycomb stitch and stitch on the beaded fringe, but it's a gorgeous purple sateen dress for an older girl.

I must go through and take pics of all my published designs as I've had quite a few now.
I'm very sad to see the magazine go, it's lead to alot of different things for me in my life, and hopefully we'll see more smocked designs from the team at CB, in one form or another down the track.

Size 3 Testers Wanted

Okay ladies I need a couple more size 3 testers.  You must already have used my naps, and preferably be at the end of your size 2's.

The size 3's will fit from approximately 11 -  12kg.  I would like someone at the bigger end of the nap as well which would be around the 20 - 22kg mark.

There will be a cost involved, but this (less postage) will be refunded to you once you have provided measurements and photos.  The nappy will be yours to keep.  The nappies will be plain and functional and you can choose pocket or AI2.

If you are interested, please send through a photo of your cherub wearing the size 2 - along with weight, age and thigh, waist and rise measurments.

Keep eyes peeled as I will be calling for photography models in the next few weeks as well.

Please email us at angel @ cherubskiss dot com with Size 3 Tester in the subject.  All emails will be replied to whether chosen or not.

First

What was  your first CK ?

I can remember the first one I made, but finding a photo has proved a bit tricky, two computers since we started etc etc.

But here are some firsts from my wonderful customers

From Trudy, Asher's first nappy.
Heaven Sent on White Windpro
It's a HoneyBoy!
The perfect nappy for those skinny newborn legs.

This one from Helen, this is her little mans first stash of goodies

Helen's little girls first birthday stash.  Alyssa was 1 in July 2008 and
these nappies are still in use in Helen's household.  That's over 4 years
a wee bit faded now, but still good to use. And yes that's the sublime Fairy Floss Minky

Who doesn't love to toot their partyhorn when you have a CK stash :)

I'm not very good

At this Blogtober thing at the moment, just too much that I need to do, too much going on in my life/head and just too much really lol!

But we'll get there we always do, so I'm not going to stress about and I'll post when I have something that's remotely interesting ;)

I have a gorgeous friend - her name is Margo - she sews BEAUTIFUL goodies and I often get a wee parcel with something for K or W and sometimes even for me - and this is for me.

Shane was being silly and I rolled my eyes at him and hence the photo, which is actually not too bad and you know how much I loveeeeee having my photo taken.

Anyways if you'd love a gorgeous hat like this, or things for your wee cherubs, though Margo makes up to girls size 12 and some ladies wear as well - you can find her over at The Climbing Tree .  Tell her I sent you :)

And then because the week gone past has been less than stellar, and I was in the city for an appointment anyways and because I felt like it - I wandered over to the Farmers Markets at the top end of Queen Street and I got these

You can find them at Madderz by Design - these ones are Carrot Cake and Key Lime Pie Tart.  And they were delicious - the carrot one for Shane cause I don't much care for carrot cake.  I blame Tobias for making me want them - as he posted photos on his photography page and I'm a sucker for a pretty cake.

Change Station

Day 7 of Clothtober.

And we don't have a change station any longer well at least not until grandbabies appear and I hope that's a little while away.

But this was our awesome change table, made by Pa for the wee ones, it's now serving duty as a snapping station for Shane!  I'm not showing you mess it hides but the top is nice and tidy and holds two snap presses.  We prefer the gold one, it's heavier and more sturdy for a manly man like Shane lol!!

and it holds our booster templates and snap templates and a box of snaps , the other boxes and there are a few hide under neath, along with bulk snaps, a pile of magazines and my craft WIP that are at the moment very sadly neglected.

Felicity's Awesome Change Station with her gorgeous little cherub modelling.

Gotta love a puddy tat and a rascally tasmanian devil on Trudy's organised Change Station

WIP

A WIP for a friend's little girl.  Acacia from Tikki is the pattern.  Using 8ply Bendigo Woollen Mills Cotton - It's the purple, though it looks blue in this photo.  And it seems to be going to plan ....... this time :D

Day 6

CK boosters waiting to be made into pretties

Gorgeous photos from Felicity!

Oops

I missed  a day, been a wee bit busy with things.

So this is what happens when you miss a day in the garden as well.

Half an 4L icecream bucket with snow peas, sugar snaps and beans, some of the snow peas are VERY
fat lol!  I bet they still taste very good.  No pesticides, no chemicals.

And those lettuces have tripled in size, ignore the weeds, that's this weekend's job.

And the start of some very fat tomatoes.
